To enjoy the music/sound to the full extend the player must be connected with Home Theatre via HDMI cable (data of this type of audio stream can be transferred through HDMI only, data rate @ 2.5Mbps; optical/coaxial support lower rate, up to dts/dd audio data). Either player or Home Theatre must equipped with dts-HD MAS audio decoder for playback.

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa is the soundtrack of the 2010 Tamil romance film of the same name, directed by Gautham Menon. The original score and songs were composed by A. R. Rahman, first time collaborating with Gautham Menon. Lyrics are penned by Menon's usual associate, Thamarai along with Kalyani Menon and Kaithapram, the latter penning the Malayalam lyrics in the album.
The album was released on 19 December 2009 in London with several film personalities participating at the grand function. It was the first time that a Tamil film audio release was held in London. An audio launch function was also held in Chennai. Sony Music released the album worldwide. The album was ranked among the best musicals of 2010.
